Position Summary
The Electrical Specialist provides technical expertise in the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement of electrical systems and equipment. This role supports safe, reliable, and code-compliant operations by diagnosing complex electrical issues, coordinating repairs and projects, maintaining accurate documentation, and partnering with operations, engineering, maintenance, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems, controls, equipment, and components.
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Diagnose electrical failures and recommend practical, cost-effective corrective actions.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Support electrical projects, upgrades, commissioning activities, and system modifications from planning through completion.
- Verify that work complies with applicable electrical codes, company standards, safety procedures, and project specifications.
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and inspectors to complete work safely and on schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, test results, equipment history, and project activities.
- Assist with material selection, estimates, scope development, work planning, and technical evaluations.
- Identify electrical hazards, participate in incident investigations, and promote safe work practices, including lockout/tagout requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and training to team members as needed.
- Respond to electrical emergencies and service interruptions according to operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience working with electrical systems, equipment, controls, construction, industrial facilities, or a related environment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and safe work practices.
- Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and common business software.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or collaboratively.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification or licensure relevant to the position, such as an electrical license, Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional credential, or Engineer in Training designation.
- Experience with power distribution, motor controls, programmable logic controllers, variable-frequency drives, building systems, or industrial automation.
- Experience supporting electrical construction, commissioning, maintenance planning, or capital improvement projects.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems and electrical design or documentation software.
