
Ellos Program Instructor
Job Synopsis
The Ellos Program Instructor position is responsible for implementing the Ellos program curriculum at partner schools. The Instructor will use restorative principles outlined in the programmatic material to help address school discipline issues and decrease the ‘school to prison pipeline’.This is a short-term 10 hour/week after-school position from September-December.
The schedule is two hours after school on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. There are an additional four hours of prep time given each week which can be done remotely from home or in the MCC office. About once/month, additional hours are needed for an offsite field trip with the students.

Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in education, youth formation, social work, counseling or similar role.
- 3-5 years relevant experience in working with youth or young people in education, or related
- Willingness to train in trauma-informed care
- Must demonstrate a working knowledge of Restorative Justice Practices and Peacebuilding from an Anabaptist perspective
- Strong capacity and relationship building skills with children, adolescents, and young adults.
- Working knowledge, or familiarity, with school structures
- Strong mentoring and training skills
- Strong proficiency in public speaking
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of stakeholders within the k-12 education system
- Written and verbal fluency in English
Employment eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the U.S. MCC offers of employment are subject to a successful criminal background check(s).
Preferred:
- Masters or Graduate degree in education, social work, counseling, or similar role.
- Demonstrates written and verbal fluency in Spanish
- Knowledge or appreciation of cultures and diverse backgrounds, and an understanding of the school to prison pipeline, and related subjects

Key Responsibilities
Training & Coordination: 100%
- Implement established program curriculum, and evaluate and develop future curriculum in collaboration with Program Director.
- Assist Program Director and Young Adult Coordinator in coordination of off-site activities, including field trips, for program participants.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures as established by partner organizations and state and local laws and regulations.
- Report to Program Director on a weekly basis the program’s progress and relevant developments.
Other duties as assigned on a temporary basis
Supervision: This position is not responsible for the supervision of staff.
Travel expectations: No travel expectations.
Physical Activity/Demands:
- Occasionally moving about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another.
- Occasionally light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
Environment Conditions – exposed to:
- Occasionally outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
