Overview

Position: Engineering/Applications Intern (Summer 2027)

Major(s): Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Analytics, Junior or Senior year desired

Internship Schedule: May to August 2027, full-time, 40 hours per week

About the experience: Assist the IT-Engineering team with application support documentation, requirements gathering, testing, system inventory, and project coordination across engineering applications and related infrastructure. Work may include PLM/CAD support documentation, user access reviews, migration readiness, application validation, troubleshooting runbooks, and cross-functional coordination with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and IT teams. Interest in engineering systems, databases, application support, and process improvement is preferred.



Responsibilities

  • Support the IT engineering applications team with application documentation, requirements gathering, testing, system inventory, and project coordination.
  • Assist with engineering application modernization, system upgrades, and site technology initiatives.
  • Review engineering applications, support queues, project lists, and site contacts to understand the current systems environment.
  • Document current processes, application inventories, data flows, dependencies, and known support issues.
  • Create and update troubleshooting guides, support runbooks, process maps, and user-facing documentation.
  • Assist with engineering systems projects involving testing, data validation, access reviews, and deployment-readiness activities.
  • Support PLM and CAD-related documentation, user access reviews, migration readiness, and application validation.
  • Contribute to database and cross-functional coordination activities involving engineering, quality, manufacturing, IT, vendors, and site teams.
  • Gather and document requirements from engineering and business users to identify application and process-improvement opportunities.
  • Support the validation of migrated or upgraded systems, including test scripts, issue logs, results tracking, and resolution follow-up.
  • Analyze recurring support issues and recommend process, documentation, or automation improvements.
  • Coordinate meetings and testing activities across IT, engineering, external vendors, and site teams.
  • Compile project findings, completed deliverables, open items, and prioritized recommendations for future action.
  • Present project outcomes and recommendations to IT and business stakeholders at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Transition documentation, knowledge, and outstanding action items to the appropriate IT team members for follow-up.
  • Perform other related engineering applications and IT support duties as assigned.
