SALARY INFORMATION: $42,819.00 Annually / JCCP Code RCP120 / Pay Grade H
Job Responsibilities
Under direct supervision and in a training status, this position performs critical regulatory functions in environmental health areas that include food protection, tourist accommodations, land use, vector control (including West Nile Virus), rabies/home quarantine, swimming pools, air quality, radon, body crafting, and the lead programs, etc. Investigates complaints and provides environmental health education and technical assistance to the public, community, and officials. Assists in the implementation of countywide programs for compliance, monitoring, enforcement, and corrective action in conjunction with environmental health laws, rules, and regulations. May serve as compliance officer and liaison between Public Health agencies and facilities, municipalities, institutions, organizations, county, and state agencies. Interprets Local, State and Federal environmental health laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which includes the completion of 27 semester or 40 quarter hours in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who have Environmental Health and/or food safety experience.
