As an Environmental Health Specialistwithin the Fannin County Environmental Health Departmentat the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Location: Fannin County Environmental Health Department in Blue Ridge, GA.Job Responsibilities
The Fannin County Environmental Health Department is seeking a team-oriented candidate to conduct inspections in the areas of food service, on-site sewage, body art, tourist accommodations, public swimming pools, and rabies control.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides technical assistance and regulatory interpretation of environmental health laws to the public, associates, and the regulated community.
- Conducts independent inspections and audits of assigned facilities/sites for compliance with applicable environmental health regulations.
- Reviews and/or prepares applications, permits, and reports of a highly technical nature.
- Initiates, negotiates, and implements public health enforcement actions as appropriate.
- Conducts complaint or injury investigations as necessary.
- Responds to public health emergencies and episodes as requested.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, which includes the completion of 27 semester or 40 quarter hours in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.) AND one (1) year of experience at the lower-level PH Envir Compl Specialist 1 (RCP120) or equivalent position.
Note: Any agency-specified certification/training that may be experience.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
All positions require criminal history record check. Required education credentials, license, certification and/or registration must be submitted prior to employment in the position. Some positions require pre-employment drug testing in which the applicant who is offered the position will be required to successfully complete.
