Position Purpose

In this role, the Environmental Technician will support JCB North American headquarters operations located in Pooler, GA. This role will support the EHS Team in all areas applicable to Federal, State and Local law, such as EPD, EPA and local permitting and reporting requirements for a typical manufacturing operation.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

  • Provide day to day support to ensure Environmental compliance and adherence.
  • Perform daily inspection pertaining to oil water separators, outfalls, potential minor spills and ensuring that spills kits are full.
  • Experience / understanding with Haz, NonHaz and Universal Waste. Support in the development and updates of Environmental policies, programs and standards.
  • Support the initiatives and efforts to successfully implement ISO 14001 for JCB North America
  • Support compliance with all environmental programs to include, stormwater, wastewater (NPDES), SPCC, RCRA, and other Federal and State regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with or lead Federal, State and County environmental reporting and documentation requirements, such as Tier II, TRI, Discharge Monitoring Reports, hazardous waste manifests, waste storage and segregation, etc.
  • Support implementation of sustainability and recycling initiatives
  • Conduct EHS related inspections and audits, generate reports and communicate findings.
  • Provide day-to-day technical environmental advice and consultation to employees and contractors.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director or Manager of Safety

Nature & Scope

Reports to EHS Director.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must pass any drug screens, background checks and any pre-employments tests as applicable.
  • 2 years related experience in general industry manufacturing environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Environmental certifications, experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of fire protections systems a plus, but not required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies

  • Ability to learn knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety Regulatory Compliance
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in communication and persuasion in employee interactions
  • Skills related to computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications
  • Integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of information

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must be able to climb ladders and work at heights from time to time.
  • The employee frequently lifts and/or moves objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
