Posting Description
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of Flagler Habitat for Humanity and is responsible for strategic leadership, operational oversight, financial stewardship, and community engagement. The ED works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to expand the organization’s impact and ensure mission alignment across all programs and activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Strategic Vision
* Develop and execute long‑term strategic plans aligned with Habitat’s mission and local housing needs.
* Provide strong, values‑driven leadership to staff, volunteers, and partner families.
* Foster a positive, collaborative, and mission‑centered organizational culture.
* Ensure compliance with Habitat for Humanity International standards and policies.
* Act as a liaison with Habitat International and Habitat Florida (Florida ASO), maintaining adherence to affiliate standards and sharing best practices across the network.
* Demonstrates the ability to build, lead, and collaborate with diverse teams across internal departments and external partners
Operational & Program Management
* Oversee all daily operations, including construction programs, family services, volunteer coordination, and the ReStore.
* Ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality homebuilding and repair programs.
* Implement policies, procedures, and systems that support organizational effectiveness.
* Manage risk, insurance, and legal compliance.
Financial Management & Fund Development
* Develop and manage the annual budget in partnership with the Board Treasurer and Accounting.
* Maintain strong financial controls and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
* Oversee fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, grant writing, sponsorships, and special events.
* Strengthen relationships with individual donors, foundations, businesses, and faith partners.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
* Serve as the public face of Flagler Habitat for Humanity.
* Build strong partnerships with local government, businesses, civic groups, and community organizations.
* Advocate for affordable housing and policies that support Habitat’s mission.
* Represent the organization at community events, media engagements, and Habitat network gatherings.
Board Relations
* Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to support governance, planning, and organizational oversight.
* Provide timely, accurate reports and recommendations to inform board decision‑making.
* Assist with board development, recruitment, and training.
Human Resources & Team Development
* Recruit, supervise, and evaluate staff; promote professional growth and accountability.
* Cultivate a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace.
* Ensure compliance with employment laws and best practices.
Qualifications:
Required
* Proven leadership experience in nonprofit management, community development, construction management, or a related field.
* Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and financial reporting.
* Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement.
* Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and public‑speaking skills.
* Commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission and values.
* Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
Preferred
* Experience working with volunteers and managing construction or housing programs.
* Knowledge of affordable housing issues, mortgage processes, or family services.
* Familiarity with Habitat for Humanity International policies and affiliate operations.
* Familiarity with Mortgage processes and third-party Mortgage Servicers
* Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, public administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Compensation
Full‑time, salaried position with occasional evening or weekend commitments.
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, FHFH offers competitive total compensation package including 403(b), Medical and paid time off (PTO)
