Essential Job Functions:

Medical Assistant

  • Provides courteous and friendly service to all patients and contributes to a positive team-based work environment.
  • Facilitates good patient care under the supervision of a physician.
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
  • Prepares exam room with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Assists with the scheduling of tests and treatments, pre-authorizations as indicated.
  • Maintains patient records and other information General Skills.

Oral Dispensing Financial Coordinator

  • Assure the timely authorization and coverage for all oral chemotherapy and other prescribed oral medications in the Medical Oncology Department.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of financial patient assistance when necessary.
  • Maintain surveillance of the timely dispensing and surveys required for patients to adhere to their prescribed medication regimen.
  • Assist in communication with the patient, oncologist, insurance companies, pharmacist, nurses, lab and other healthcare-related parties.

  • Clinical Skills: - accurate vital signs (Blood pressure, Radial pulse, Temperature, Height, Weight) - Infection Control: PPE, Handwashing, Sharps containers, Biohazard disposal. - Equipment Use and Maintenance (Ophthalmoscope/Otoscope, O2 saturation monitor, Thermometer). - Electronic medical record access patient's chart, physician schedule, tasking Rx refills/authorizations, lab results, record vital signs, medications, imaging results.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced Medical Assistant, or equivalent, with minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, push, and/or carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally is required. Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time is required.
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required.
  • Must meet all state laws and regulations governing the practice of in-office dispensing.
  • Team player with positive attitude.
