A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN Associate Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting

Responsible for leading financial reporting and corporate accounting processes to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial statements and SEC filings. The Associate Manager will take ownership of complex accounting initiatives, draft technical accounting memos, and contribute to strategic financial reporting decisions. This role also oversees internal controls, process improvements, and serves as a key liaison with auditors and cross-functional teams. Located at Castle Biosciences' Friendswood location, this role will spend the most time leading the preparation and review of SEC reports, including 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, S-1, S-8, Proxy Statements, and Section 16 forms, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and U.S. GAAP. The Associate Manager will oversee full financial statement tie-outs, review supporting workpapers, and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all financial reporting. Recognized as the technical accounting resource (e.g., ASC 842), this role leads research and resolution of complex accounting issues and communicates impacts through technical memoranda. Additionally, the Associate Manager serves as the primary point of contact for external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits, coordinating schedules, providing documentation, and addressing audit inquiries.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in financial reporting and SEC compliance, including prior public accounting experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with team members, management, and external auditors effectively.

SCHEDULE

  • In office 40 hours per week Monday through Friday
  • Working nonstandard hours (weekends, evenings) may be necessary to satisfy the responsibilities of the position, especially during peak periods surrounding quarter and year-end reporting deadlines
