Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Finance Specialist – Capital Projects is responsible for managing and tracking capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects from approval through closeout. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, and Finance to ensure capital projects are properly justified, approved, executed, and financially controlled. The position focuses on cost tracking, forecasting, documentation, and schedule coordination to support timely and accurate capital investments that align with business objectives.

This role does not require a bachelor’s degree and is well-suited for candidates with strong experience in manufacturing environments, project coordination, or financial tracking.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Project Management

·Coordinate CAPEX projects from initial request through completion and financial close

·Track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts

·Monitor project timelines and communicate status updates to stakeholders

·Support project managers and engineers with financial and administrative oversight

Financial Tracking & Reporting

·Maintain accurate CAPEX tracking logs and project documentation

·Prepare monthly capital spend reports and variance explanations

·Ensure proper capitalization of assets in accordance with company policy

·Assist with project closeout, asset tagging, and documentation

Approvals & Compliance

·Support preparation of capital requests, justifications, and approval packages

·Ensure projects follow internal approval processes and financial controls

·Maintain audit-ready documentation for all capital projects

·Ensure compliance with Howmet Aerospace financial policies and procedures

Cross-Functional Collaboration

·Partner with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, and finance teams

·Coordinate purchase orders, invoices, and vendor payments related to capital projects

·Communicate financial impacts, risks, and changes to leadership

Continuous Improvement

·Identify opportunities to improve CAPEX tracking, reporting, and project controls

·Support standardization of capital project processes and tools

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required

·1+ years of experience in one or more of the following:

oCapital project coordination

oManufacturing finance or cost tracking

oProject management support

oMaintenance, engineering, or operations support with financial responsibilities

·Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

·Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (tracking, reporting, basic analysis)

·Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

·Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

·Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

·Experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment

·Familiarity with CAPEX processes, fixed assets, or capital approvals

·Experience using ERP systems (Oracle or similar)

·Basic understanding of accounting or project cost principles

·Prior experience supporting audits or financial reviews
