Job Summary
Teach assigned classes and perform activities related to classroom instruction. Ability to teach in person is preferred, but online options may be available after completing training and credentialing requirements. Ideal candidate will have experience in strength training, fitness instruction and promoting safe and effective lifting techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.
- Teaching:
- Teach and supervise students in proper weightlifting form and technique
- Develop and implement engaging workouts and instructional plans
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback
- Meet classes at assigned times.
- Course Preparation:
- Select appropriate texts and teaching materials.
- Prepare and deliver lectures, assignments, and assessments that align with course objectives and learning outcomes.
- Keep informed on the latest research and journal articles.
- Student Engagement:
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation and engagement.
- Provide availability for student interaction before and after class.
- (1 hour weekly minimum per 3 credit hours)
- Assessment and Feedback:
- Evaluate student performance through a variety of assessment methods. Provide constructive feedback to support student improvement.
- Utilize Rock Valley College’s chosen Learning Management System (LMS) for all grading, assignments, communication, and student records.
- Prepare course/class reports as required.
- Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the department’s initiatives and activities.
- Attend college meetings when available (faculty, division, in-service training, etc.).
- Compliance:
- Adhere to college policies, procedures, and academic standards.
- Adhere to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and any policies or laws that govern higher education at Rock Valley College.

Minimum Qualifications
- Masters in FWS or closely related field.
- Experience in weightlifting.
- CPT Certification (NSCA preferred; must prepare FWS program students for NSCA resistance training programming).
- CPR/AED certification.
- Commitment to the community college mission.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching or coaching experience
