Full Stack Engineer
Fidelity Investments Workplace Investing (WI) organization is seeking an expert Agile Engineer to join our new team within Stock Plan Services (SPS) Technology tasked with taking our market leading equity compensation platform to a global market. The person will play a key role in defining and executing on a new service oriented architecture built on REST and leveraging API management. This engineer will act as technical lead during the construction, execution and support of a multi year service delivery roadmap following agile development methodologies, modern architecture patterns, and the JAVA technology stack in support of program objectives. This role demands significant collaboration with members of various business and IT groups throughout the lifecycle of a typical project.
Stock Plan Services administers equity compensation programs on behalf of public and private companies offering various compensations programs such as: Employee Stock Purchase Plans, Restricted Stock Awards/Units, Stock Option Plans, Stock Appreciation Rights and Performance based Awards. Currently SPS services over 1.6M participants employed by over 300 clients and spread out in 150 countries. The business is looking to further expand in the international equity compensation market, focused initially on western European countries and companies based there. As part of this business initiative, we are extending our capabilities to enable a truly global platform.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Champion the effort to create and maintain high quality service documentation
- Write concise and clear technical specifications based on analysis of complex business requirements
- Coordinate multiple development work streams through integration and ensure architecture is scalable and extensible
- Define, maintain and support development environment while adopting industry best practices and tools
- Ensures code reviews, unit testing and integration testing is completed efficiently and effectively
- Help coordinate the delivery of technical components across internal/external technical teams.
- Work closely with business partners and management team in evaluating current systems and making decisions on future development.
- Provide technical leadership to more junior team members of the team
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- 5-8 years of hands on software development and Oracle experience
- 6+ years of Java EE development experience
- Investment/financial services experience is highly desired preferably within the equity compensation space
Skills and Knowledge:
- A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts.
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment while meeting deliverables.
- Curiosity to stay abreast with new and emerging technologies and concepts and to find ways to apply those to business problems.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies such as SCRUM, Extreme Programming, TDD etc.
- Strong verbal and written communications, must be able to actively engage other team members
- Expert-level knowledge of writing complex SQL queries using Oracle.
- Expert-level hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL (Stored Procedures, Functions, packages, triggers).
- Experience with performance tuning queries and stored procedures to handle large volumes of data
- Working experience using GitHUB for Source Code Management (SCM) in a Data Engineering Practice.
Technical
- Understanding of and experience with Micro-Services Architecture concepts and emerging patterns such as APIs, JAX-RS, REST/JSON
- Application development using Java EE, Spring framework
- Relational databases like DB2 or Oracle as well as no-SQL databases
- Familiarity with infrastructure technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Kafka, MSSQL, DataDog).
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, UDeploy), containerization (Docker), and version control (GIT, GitHub, gitflow).
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure (preferred).
- Event driver transaction processing using EAI, ESB and messaging patterns using technologies such as WSO2, ActiveMQ, Tomcat etc.
- Security integration using oAuth and LDAP
