Full Stack Engineer

Our Cash, Technology and Platform team is looking for solution-based engineers with a passion for developing easy-to-use, customer focused Applications and capabilities which power Fidelity’s web and mobile experience platforms.

The Purpose of Your Role

The teams build Applications that support Fidelity’s large scale digital presence. You will help us design and develop re-usable APIs, Web components that focus on customer experience needs and optimize quality and deployment practices. You’ll work towards the entire development lifecycle from concept to deployment as a member of an agile, cross-functional team.

You will have the opportunity to share your technical knowledge to help strengthen our engineering community and further pursue your own learning of new technologies and platforms. • Are experienced with the tools of the trade including a variety of modern programming languages and frameworks
• Comply with cycle time and use CI/CD practices, tools to rapidly deploy changes to customers while minimizing risk using practices like A/B tests, blue-green deployments, and feature toggles
• Stay on top of Algorithms, Data Structures and Design Patterns and love the challenge of building highly scalable systems that can support thousands of transactions/sec.
• Have a mindset of test first development and are experienced in modern test frameworks. We believe in testing and that quality is everyone’s job.
• Are data-driven and can measure, collect and use data to make decisions. We understand the value of intuition and the need to balance decisions accordingly.
• Have strong communication skills and technical expertise in driving and participating in important discussions.

The Skills You Bring

• 6+ years of hands?on experience in backend software development.
• Strong experience designing and building scalable Service?Oriented and Microservices Architectures, including RESTful APIs, JSON-based services, and modern application servers.
• Proficient in backend programming languages, especially Java and Python. JavaScript experience for backend frameworks (e.g., Node.js) is a plus.
• Deep expertise in API development, including API contract definition, versioning, isolation strategies, and service decomposition.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance optimization, and building highly scalable backend platforms using open?source technologies.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS or Azure, including deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure services.
• Proficient in API documentation frameworks such as OpenAPI / Swagger.
• Strong DevOps experience, including CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Maven, GitHub, uDeploy, NPM, and automated build/deployment processes.
• Solid knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with backend testing frameworks, such as JUnit, Mockito, Spring Test, or equivalent backend testing tools.
• Familiarity with backend frameworks, including Spring Boot, ExpressJS (for Node.js), or similar server-side technologies.
• Proficient in working with both relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, optimization, and data modeling.
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban).
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, especially for working with global cross?functional teams.
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and work towards to strong engineering culture and best practices.

Educational & Experience

• Bachelor's or equivalent degree with a Computer Science background.
• 6+ years of relevant experience

Most roles at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles.
