Posting Description
This position is responsible for identifying government grant opportunities that align with potential and planned affordable housing projects and preparing related applications and documents for such grants. In addition, the position assists in the identification of local policies that affect affordable housing as well as assisting in maintaining local government relationships. The position will significantly enhance and accelerate opportunities for community development and participation related to the advancement of the Habitat for Humanity mission.
Essential Functions:
* Write, coordinate, and submit government grant proposals for the Affiliate and CHDO and maintain grant administration and compliance including but not limited to E-verify, Section 3, Davis Bacon, BABA, agreement review, invoicing, and other required reporting.
* Identify local housing needs and raising awareness of the Habitat mission.
* Promote and assist in the administration of the Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), which complements the services and community engagement of the Habitat organization.
* Participate in planning and budgeting related to assigned areas of responsibility.
* Identify and develop effective relationships with and support from municipal agencies; government officials and staff; local, state and national elected leaders; housing groups
* Strengthen government relationships that lead to increased funding and land acquisition opportunities from various grant programs. (i.e. HOME, SHIP, SHOP, CDBG, HOPE, etc.)
* In coordination with Homeowner Services and Home Preservation programs, identify and engage community leaders, stakeholders, and residents in targeted geographic communities where Habitat Hillsborough is building or would like to build to enhance organizational visibility and to enhance new and existing opportunities.
* Assist Staff with completing Environmental Review Records per HUD regulations.
* Assist with Federal Home Loan Bank proposals and administration of the funding including forms, backup documents, tracking expenditures, and reporting.
* Attend meetings, as required.
* Promote Habitat’s public advocacy efforts by reviewing and monitoring relevant public policies and providing advocacy recommendations as appropriate.

Work Environment:
* The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in an office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, phones, tablets, filing cabinets, fax machines and driving to monitor construction activities at jobsites for grant compliance.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate performs the following activities: standing; walking; bending squatting, use hands, reach with hands/arms, listen and communicate.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time exempt position. The typical workweek is Monday – Friday with some evenings and weekends required.
Education, Experience and Attributes:
* Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of experience in non-profit or government administration, two (2) years of experience in grant writing for development of affordable housing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed. Access to a car is required to fill some of the duties of this position.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office.
