Responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic partner to provide direction and expertise for the HR functions including, but not limited to, culture, employee engagement, change management, talent management and talent acquisition.
- Serve as subject matter expert and give appropriate guidance to leadership as requested/needed in obtaining approval to implement new programs. Prepare and communicate information to leadership, key stakeholders and Family Members (employees).
- Collaborate with team and members of leadership to identify and address talent gaps.
- Advise and educate the Field HR and TA team on company and department goals, strategies, and initiatives to ensure each area is aligned on expectations.
- Utilize people-related analytics and data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and improve workforce effectiveness. Measure, track, and analyze metrics to monitor individual and team performance, and to make recommendations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and partner to senior leaders; understand their business needs and provide insights and solutions.
- Drive initiatives and create developmental opportunities that help build and maintain a high-performing team. Lead, mentor, and develop members of the team.
- Educate members of the team and others on best practices regarding HR-related concepts. Lead and direct communication and compliance monitoring of policies, procedures, and practices. Accountable for team’s operational objectives and work plans.
- Collaborate with Office of General Counsel (including Employee Relations Team) on regulatory investigations, employee relations concerns, trends, root-cause analysis, and with implementing solutions for continuous improvement.
- Lead departmental and cross-functional strategic change projects to improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Engage with Family Members to develop relationships and serve as a trusted business partner.
- Develop and integrate company policies and procedures.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of educational and work experience required
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in human resources, with at least 5+ years of experience in a leadership role supervising others
- Experience working with Human Capital Management System(s) required
- Experience working at a multi-unit retail and/or restaurant/hospitality concept ($1B+ revenue), preferred
- Experience partnering with members of department and company leadership to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and initiatives
- Experience collaborating with and presenting to members of leadership, or equivalent experience
- Experience leading and providing direction in the development and implementation of Human Resources programs and solutions
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point
- Proficiency in Workday preferred
- Highly developed interpersonal and relationship building skills, with demonstrated ability to promote and work in a team environment, and work effectively with Family Members at all operational levels
- Advanced ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate decisions while motivating members of the team
- Advanced ability to create and implement strategic direction
- Advanced professional knowledge and functional concepts, practices, and procedures of human resources discipline, and in the execution of assigned duties and responsibilities
- Advanced understanding of budgetary concepts and procedures
- Advanced understanding of talent-related concepts, programs, and practices
- Advanced understanding of management: input to output, decision making process, logical sequence of activities, interdependencies between activities/tasks, deliverable prioritization, and timeline
- Proven ability to lead initiatives and manage a team in a multi-site and multi-state environment
Professional Certification:
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM Certified Professional in (SHRM-CP) certification preferred
Working Conditions/Travel Requirements:
- Expected to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities
- Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needs
- Must be able to work a full-time schedule and work outside of normal business hours when necessary
- Must be able to travel occasionally both locally and long distances (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, submit to releasing a background check and drug screen that adheres to the Whataburger standards
