A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:Administer the intercollegiate athletic program in compliance with the University, NCAA and C-USA rules and regulations as required.Recommend and administer specific sports budget, follow University purchasing procedures and team travel procedures.Participate in the public relations and promotion of the sports program through the media relations department.Maintain visibility in the community through attendance of various campus events, community activities, and department functions.Follow the Crisis Management Policy whenever it is applicable.Hire and supervise assistant coaches and other staff as required.Maintain professional conduct, positive sportsmanship acting as a role model for the student-athletes.Discipline the team according to the University and student-athletes Codes of Conduct.Adhere to the training room policies, rules and judgement.Maintain concern for the health, safety, treatment and general welfare of student-athletes.Focus on the retention of student-athletes to ensure all student-athletes graduate.Consult with various campus agencies as to eligibility, admission of student-athletes, facilities needed, security and financial aid.Consult with student-athlete as related to discipline, academic progress and personal growth.Supervise academic progress of student-athletes in relation to class attendance, study hall and tutoring, graduation and grade point averages.Coordinate plan for physical conditioning and practice preparation.Oversee play during practice sessions, pre-game preparation and on the court during competition.Evaluate talent of prospective student-athletes, organization of home visits and phone contacts with prospect and family.Perform necessary duties in relationship to fund raising.Make recommendations as it relates to scheduling, selection of uniforms, equipment and supplies.Plan and organize all aspects of team travel within the budgetary limitations.Establish consistent guidelines and requirements for participation in the sport of Men's and Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field.Report any violations of compliance regulations.Ability to coach the student-athletes in game and practice situations.Organize a team that is competitive and representative of the University's philosophy and compatible with its mission.Complies with all State and University policies.Other duties may be assigned.Internal Control: Employee will practice sound work habits as they relate to internal control responsibilities.Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.QualificationsQualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
