Head of Commercialization Technology
About the Role
Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking a visionary technology and data leader to serve as Head of Commercialization Technology. This role sits at the center of how BMS engages customers, generates medical evidence about our portfolio, and translates scientific innovation into real-world impact for patients.
The Head of Commercialization Technology is accountable for all technology capabilities supporting Commercial and Medical Affairs, including CRM platforms, omnichannel engagement, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled insights. More importantly, this role is responsible for unlocking the strategic value of data—real-world data, syndicated data, and BMS’s internal customer and product data—to fundamentally change how we understand, serve, and learn from our customers.
This is not a traditional IT role. It is a senior leadership position focused on always-on insight generation, intelligent engagement, and data-driven evidence creation, operating at the intersection of technology, data science, medicine, and commercial strategy.

This role exists to turn that ambition into a coherent, scalable, and responsible technology and data ecosystem—one that moves beyond static dashboards and episodic analytics toward continuous learning systems embedded in how the organization operates.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Co-define and co-own the long-term technology and data vision with Commercial and Medical Affairs
- Establish a clear point of view on how AI, advanced analytics, and real-world data should be used to drive commercial effectiveness and scientific learning
- Demonstrate a high propensity for action and urgency in making meaningful progress while navigating a lot of underlying complexity
- Translate commercial and medical strategy into a cohesive, multi-year technology and data roadmap with measurable business impact
Data, AI & Insight Generation
- Lead the design and evolution of an integrated data ecosystem combining real-world data, syndicated data, and internal BMS data assets
- Enable always-on insight generation that connects customer behavior, engagement, outcomes, and product performance
- Champion the use of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI to surface insights that improve decision-making across marketing, sales, medical, and evidence generation
- Partner closely with Medical Affairs, R&D, and Evidence teams to leverage commercial and real-world data to inform study design, hypothesis generation, and evidence priorities
Omnichannel & Customer Engagement Technology
- Own CRM and omnichannel platforms supporting field teams, marketing, and medical engagement—ensuring these systems deliver exceptional usability and leverage AI to orchestrate next-best actions across channels
- Drive customer engagement strategies grounded in integrated data and real-time insights rather than static segmentation models
- Enable personalization at scale while maintaining rigorous compliance, trust, and transparency
Business Partnership
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders in Commercial and Medical Affairs
- Help business leaders understand what is possible with modern data and AI—and what it takes to operationalize it responsibly
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear strategic choices and trade-offs
Team & Capability Building
- Build, lead, and inspire high-performing teams across data engineering, analytics, AI/ML, platform engineering, and product management
- Attract and develop top technical and analytical talent in a highly competitive market
- Establish modern operating models that emphasize product thinking, experimentation, and rapid learning—not project-centric delivery
Governance, Risk & Responsibility
- Ensure all technology and data use complies with regulatory, privacy, and ethical standards across global markets
- Balance innovation with appropriate controls, demonstrating that responsible AI and data use can accelerate—not constrain—impact
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Privacy teams to embed guardrails without stifling progress
What You Bring
Experience & Background
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in technology, data, analytics, or digital roles
- Senior leadership experience in at least one of the following:
- Pharmaceutical or life sciences commercialization or medical affairs
- Data-driven consulting or analytics firms (e.g., IQVIA, ZS, Accenture, McKinsey)
- Data-native consumer or technology companies with advanced personalization and analytics capabilities
- Demonstrated experience leading large, complex organizations and technology portfolios at scale
- Pharma experience helpeful, but not required for candidates with exceptional data and AI leadership credentials
Technical & Analytical Acumen
- Deep understanding of modern data architectures, analytics platforms, and AI/ML capabilities
- Ability to distinguish between hype and real, scalable AI value
- Comfort engaging deeply with data scientists and engineers while maintaining executive-level perspective
- Experience integrating external data sources (real-world, syndicated, third-party) with internal enterprise data
Leadership & Influence
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority
- Clear strategic thinker who can also drive execution and accountability
- Proven ability to build and lead world-class technical and analytical teams
- Skilled at navigating ambiguity and competing priorities in fast-moving environments
- Exceptional communication skills across technical, scientific, and commercial audiences

Compensation Overview:
$355,560 - $430,849The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

Paid Time Off
- US Exempt Employees: flexible time off (unlimited, with manager approval, 11 paid national holidays (not applicable to employees in Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico or Rayzebio employees)
- Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico and Rayzebio Exempt, Non-Exempt, Hourly Employees: 160 hours annual paid vacation for new hires with manager approval, 11 national holidays, and 3 optional holidays
Based on eligibility*, additional time off for employees may include unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs and an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day.
All global employees full and part-time who are actively employed at and paid directly by BMS at the end of the calendar year are eligible to take advantage of the Global Shutdown.
*Eligibility Disclosure: The summer hours program is for United States (U.S.) office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Summer hours are generally not available for field sales and manufacturing operations and may also be limited for the capability centers. Employees in remote-by-design or lab-based roles may be eligible for summer hours, depending on the nature of their work, and should discuss eligibility with their manager. Employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement should consult that document to determine if they are eligible. Contractors, leased workers and other service providers are not eligible to participate in the program.

Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility.
