As an PH Health Educator within the District Two PH within the 13 county District. At District Two, Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. District 2 Public Health serves 13 counties in northeast Georgia, including Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties. One of the fastest growing regions in the state, District 2 includes rural and urban communities with diverse public health challenges.

Job Responsibilities

PH Health Educator 1:

  • Under general supervision promotes, maintains, and improves individual and community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors
  • Collect and analyze data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, environmental, and system change
  • Submit reports and work plans and reports on accomplishments, lessons learned, and successes while utilizing consistent and accurate messaging.
  • Attend conference calls, virtual and state meetings and training, as needed.
Additional duties, include but not limited too:
  • Plan and implement evidence-based substance use/misuse educational programs for at least 10 youth-serving organizations
  • Raise awareness and reduce stigma by empowering youth to educate their peers about the dangers of substance use in at least two schools.
  • Develop at least 4 public awareness campaigns using social media, TV, and other platforms to reach youth.
  • Collaborate with at least 4 healthcare organizations, treatment centers and/or mental health services, jails, detention centers, etc. to increase naloxone distribution and fentanyl test strips upon release.
  • Host at least 4 workshops to education community members, in counties, on the importance of drug disposal and safe storage practices


Minimum Qualifications

Health Educator 1:
Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral, or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.
