Program Support Coordinator

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.
What will you do?
The program support coordinator is a first point of contact for homeownership and neighborhood focused programs. They interact with potential applicants to determine program eligibility, collect and document application materials and prepare them for further review. They have a thorough understanding of program requirements and are a key person for outreach and recruitment.
- Become familiar with general requirements for homeownership and neighborhood focused programs to be able to answer routine questions.
- Implement outreach strategies by attending community events sponsored by Habitat Chicago and with partner organizations.
- Coordinate existing programs to recruit homeowner applicants for traditional homeownership opportunities or for expanded housing products such as rehab, repair, or weatherization.
- Conduct information sessions and assist applicants throughout the process of completing program applications.
- Assist program staff in providing additional follow-up with program applicants and/or participants, coordinating phone calls and emails.
This position will focus on homeowner services aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

Unique projects: Applicant communications: They will develop tools such as FAQ, email/phone scripts, automated message templates, and public‑facing information materials to ensure consistent, accessible communication for future applicants.
Streamline intake process: The member will map, refine, and document the full homeowner application workflow, creating standardized checklists, intake scripts, eligibility review guides, and communication templates that reduce staff time and improve applicant clarity.
Public Information Access: The member will help improve how external audiences access program information, helping to update website content, refining inquiry forms, and supporting homeowner information sessions to reduce confusion and increase engagement.
When will you serve?
Start dates are flexible and based on this location’s availability. Talk to the hiring manager for this position about start dates during your interview process. The start date will be 4-6 weeks from receiving an offer and no earlier than September 2026.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
