Job Synopsis

The HR International Payroll and Benefits Assistant has a central role in ensuring MCC’s U.S. payroll, benefits, and onboarding functions run smoothly and accurately for international staff. This positions sets up records and benefits to help onboard international staff, updates and administers benefits throughout the employee life cycle, and runs international payroll ensuring compliance across the many locations MCC works. This position is key in MCC’s HR department to ensure timely documentation and processing, strong data integrity, and smooth operations, all of which collectively serve and support MCC staff.
FTE and Schedule: This position is hybrid 30 hours/week (.75 FTE) with flexible scheduling options available. Office location is in Akron, PA.

Essential:
  • High School Diploma
  • 1-3 years relevant experience in payroll and benefits or similar environment
  • Strong organization skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work independently and in collaborative team environments
  • Experience using Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to hold sensitive information in strict confidence
  • Strong technical skills and demonstrated ability to navigate and support a database
  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills


Employment eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the U.S. MCC offers of employment are subject to a successful criminal background check(s).

Preferred:
  • Experience processing multi-state or multi-national payroll
  • Experience with HR or similar administrative databases is a plus (Salesforce, Sage, ADP, or similar)
  • Experience working for a global non-profit organization is a plus

Tasks and Duties:

Onboarding for International Program staff managed by U.S. HR
  • Onboard International Program new hires including young adult participants in Global Service Learning (GSL) programs.
  • Maintain assignment preparation documents and forms in collaboration with IP, MCCC HR and MCC U.S. Finance staff.
  • Update IP HRIS self-serve portal for a better end user experience for International Staff.
  • Create new national staff team member and employment records.
Compensation and Benefits Administration for International Program staff managed by U.S. HR
  • Support International HR Specialist on medical expense reimbursements:
  • Process Education loan assistance requests.
  • Process Education of Children benefits for dependents.
  • Process health care reimbursements for National Staff.
  • Process dental and vision claims.
  • Maintain current and accurate health plan enrollment data, including temporary medical coverage.
  • Process monthly benefits premiums and related billing for international group plans.
  • Process weekly Everence reports and checks and provide codes for financial services.
Payroll Administration for International Program
  • Serve as the primary International Program Payroll Administrator in the U.S., including processing the payrolls in an accurate and timely manner that is compliant with all applicable laws.
  • Collaborate across HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll processing between the two departments.
  • Create and update payroll and benefits-related records for all International Program Staff managed by U.S. HR.
Shared Program Consultant Support
  • Provide HR review and approval for consultants hired by MCC U.S. Shared Program.
  • Consult with Program administrative staff regularly to ensure consistent and coordinated flow of information between departments.
  • In consultation with Program administrative staff and MCCC HR, maintain up-to-date and easily accessible consultancy instructions and forms.
  • Submit medical- and consultancy-related payment requests for external vendors to MCC Financial Services.

Other duties as assigned on a temporary basis.

Supervision: No supervisory responsibilities

Travel expectations: Travel up to 5%

Salary Details

Base salary: $23.07 - Starting salary may be adjusted up to $25.63 based on previous experience.
