Pay Range

$80,300.00-$120,500.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

This position exists to handle daily operations and provide escalation of support for IT manufacturing automation technology in partnership with JM’s engineering teams and ITD. This role is responsible for manufacturing system support including patch management, malware detection, data historians, plant control systems, user account maintenance, system backups, Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology, plant energy systems, and environmental systems.

This is a fully remote position, however being on Central, Mountain or Pacific Time zone is preferred and near a Johns Manville location.

Operational Support:

Coordinate with plants to patch security risks in the Process Control Network (PCN). Maintain documentation across all sites. Establish best practices for supporting controls systems communication and provide first level support for production environment issues, escalating when necessary to the appropriate resource(s).

Technology Deployment:
Support deployment of industrial infrastructure, including process workstations and HMIs, historians, and other Industrial Systems technology.

  • Responsible for supporting data historian deployments and optimization, plant control systems, and Industrial Security infrastructure.
  • Ensure that architecture is documented and understood.
  • Ensure training to first level support is provided.

Plant Project Management:
Assist plants with small to medium sized capital projects to ensure that Industrial Systems technology is functional and meets established Industrial IT standards. Projects are often complex and cover multiple technical areas such as network, HMI, historians, security, and control systems.

Engineering Integration:
Build relationships with plant engineers on projects and in daily operational support. Review plant capital projects based upon standards established between IT and Engineering

  • Help ensure security and system resiliency is maintained with new projects.
  • Help ensure that shop floor systems are connected to historians and other IT systems.
  • May be required to perform other team related duties as assigned.
  • After hours support of around 5 – 10 hours per month may be required to support 24x7 plant operations.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and a minimum of 2 years of IT experience with a minimum of 2 years of Industrial System experience.
  • Alternatively, applicable Engineering and IT certifications with a minimum of 5 years of IT experience with a minimum of 2 years of Industrial System experience.
  • Must have a solid understanding of a single technology discipline. A basic understanding would include medium-sized deployments and/or support for a given technology. The three technical disciplines are Industrial Systems Infrastructure, IS Historians, and IS Control Systems. Requirements for each platform are listed below.

Industrial Systems Infrastructure

  • Experience deploying and or supporting Local Area Network (LAN) technology in an ICS environment.
  • Experience deploying and supporting Windows Server and Desktop systems in an active directory in an ICS environment.
  • Experience securing an ICS environment using best practices in the industry such as ISA62443.

IS Historian / Wonderware Platforms

  • Basic understanding of integrating shop floor technology to controls processors, in order to connect historians.
  • Basic understanding of managing Wonderware application environments to create systems utilized by environmental systems, reporting, or alerting functions.

IS Control Systems

  • Basic understanding of DCS and/or SCADA systems.
  • Basic knowledge of controls, network, and server/historian technologies.
  • Basic understanding of System administration and system maintenance processes for at least one of these environments.
  • An engineering degree with a focus in Industrial System controls is preferred for this technical discipline.
  • Willing to learn business skills and develop an understanding of IT and manufacturing operations.
  • Willing to support plant production environments and identify, correct, and communicate root cause issues.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Solid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally (Basic).
  • May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 50 pounds.
  • Moderate to heavy travel required (30 or more days per year).
  • Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility (may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.)
