Pay Range
$41,600.00-$51,000.00 AnnualThis is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
About the Role
The Project Management Intern will support the Capital Projects to enhance Johns Manville's Capital Project Process (CPP) and establish/refine standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and process documentation for key initiatives and cross functional engagement. This role will help collect, analyze and integrate key information across projects, map key stakeholders, and create clear, scalable documentation that enables consistent execution, governance, dashboards and reporting.
You’ll collaborate with engineering leaders, project managers, business analysts, and cross‑functional teams to develop repeatable frameworks and best practices that will improve handoffs, and enhance visibility into project workflows and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- SOP & Process Development
- Draft, refine, and publish SOPs for core project activities (project submittal, prioritization, planning, change control, status reporting, risk/issue management, and project closure).
- Create accompanying templates, checklists, RACI matrices, and style guides to drive consistency.
- Version and maintain a centralized repository for documents (SharePoint/Teams) with clear organization and governance.
- Stakeholder Identification & Mapping
- Identify and document key stakeholders for capital project deliverables; build stakeholder maps and influence/interest matrices.
- Capture roles, decision and approval rights, communication preferences, and escalation paths.
- Information Collection & Synthesis
- Conduct interviews and working sessions to gather project execution requirements, pain points, and best practices.
- Review existing project documentation (JM CPP, charters, schedules, Risk, Assumptions, Issues, Decisions/Dependencies (RAID) logs, reports) to extract reusable standards.
- Capital Project Governance & Reporting Support
- Assist in updating quality gates, stage approvals, and metrics/KPIs for Capital Project deliverables.
- Review and update project status reports to help standardize format and cadence; support monthly/quarterly portfolio reviews.
- Tooling & Documentation
- Work with Engineering Leaders, Project Managers and cross functional team members to identify existing and missing project execution tools
- Partner with JM project team to develop, refine configure and test templates for PM tools and collaboration platforms (SharePoint/Teams).
- Ensure documentation meets accessibility, version control, and JM confidentiality standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Project Management, Business, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
- Foundational Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated comfort interacting with technical team members up and down the organization to gather information to support the responsibilities of the position
- Comfortable arranging and conducting interviews while note-taking to synthesize feedback.
- Strong written communication and attention to detail; ability to translate complex processes into clear, actionable steps.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel/Sheets and PowerPoint/Slides; familiarity with process mapping.
- Nice to Have:
- Exposure to project management concepts.
- Experience with MS Project, Smartsheet, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, or SharePoint.
- Interest in Lean/Six Sigma, ISO standards, or process improvement methodologies.
