ABOUT THE ROLE:

Lexitas is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Internal Investigator to support our legal services team by conducting in-depth research and investigative work for civil litigation matters. This role plays a critical part in identifying record custodians, locating individuals, securing accident-related documentation, conducting social media investigations, and supporting the subpoena and records retrieval process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Research and verify record custodian names, addresses, and locations to ensure accurate records requests and legal document preparation.
• Utilize investigative tools and databases, including LexisNexis and other research platforms, to locate individuals and relevant information.
• Obtain police reports, Accident Investigation Squad reports, and other public records related to client matters.
• Submit requests to state agencies and departments for accident reports and supporting documentation.
• Conduct social media and open-source intelligence research on claimants and related parties as requested.
• Prepare, issue, and support the processing of subpoenas, depositions on written questions, and related legal documents.
• Maintain and update company databases with custodian information, case details, client profiles, counsel of record, patient demographics, and order scopes.
• Communicate research findings through detailed confirmation reports provided to clients.
• Ensure timely notification and correspondence with clients, attorneys, and other parties involved in legal matters.
• Safeguard confidential medical and legal records while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support departmental projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Windows-based applications, and internet research tools.
• Experience using social media platforms and online databases for research purposes.
• Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Flexibility to adjust priorities and work occasional overtime as business needs require.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience required.
• Experience in legal support services, records retrieval, investigations, claims research, insurance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience working in a multi-functional and multi-geographic environment preferred.
• Familiarity with legal records, subpoenas, public records research, or litigation support processes is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role is not a supervisor position.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers whose first language is English.
