Job Summary
University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a Research Scholar with strong interest and expertise in Internal Medicine-related basic science research OR clinical research. Experience in data management, data analysis, and manuscript preparation are preferred. Applicants should be current medical students who have completed at least their second year of medical school and are interested specifically in Internal Medicine research. The applicant will identify departmental faculty mentor(s) whose work they propose supporting full-time for a full academic year. The applicant should work with their proposed mentor to develop a clear plan for their proposed year of effort, including expected tasks, timeline, and outcomes.
A successful application will include a letter of support from candidate’s faculty mentor including a detailed plan of expected contributions to faculty member’s research. The letter of support should be uploaded as Specific Request 1.
This is a temporary staff position and is for a one-year term.

Comfort with research skills, tasks, databases, and/or programs as required by proposed faculty mentor.

Preferred Education/Experience
The Internal Medicine Research Scholar candidate will be a rising third or fourth year medical student who has completed the first two years of medical school and passed USMLE STEP 1 by start date. Additionally, the candidate will have a strong interest in applying for Internal Medicine residency and interest in research with a specific Internal Medicine faculty.
