International Summer Camp LeaderUIW MissionPosition SummaryThe International Summer Camp Leader is responsible for providing oversight for assigned campers (typically 15-20 campers) during the 2 week English-language residential summer immersion camp for international children ages 12-17 held July 12-25, 2026. The camp focus is both language education and practicum, interaction with fellow campers, and cultural immersion through field trips. A 3-day training session is provided prior to camp, as well as room and board, with residence on main campus.Note that finalists must successfully pass a background check prior to employment.Essential FunctionsJob DutiesKnowledge Skills and Abilities• Experience and/or knowledge of the majority of activities offered at our camp-hiking, swimming, arts & crafts, etc…• Ability to work in a busy indoor/outdoor environment and lead outside activities.• Ability to consistently serve as a positive role model to campers.• High sense of responsibility and dependability.• Willingness to help where needed.• Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships by promoting caring, honesty, respect and responsibility with staff and adolescents (ages 12 - 17).• Strong team player.• Ability to exercise sound judgment and report any unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.• Ability to work effectively and communicate with coworkers, parents, and campers.• Ability to handle difficult or stressful situations in a professional manner.• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.• Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.Required EducationAt least 30 college hours.Required Work ExperienceExperience working/volunteering with youth programs, day/overnight camps, and/or after-school programs. Note that relevant field of study will be considered in lieu of experience.Preferred Qualifications• Bilingual.• Experience as camp counselor and/or working with children in similar environment.• Experience facilitating groups of children or youth programs.• Valid driver's license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.• Knowledge of UIW campus, mission, and programs.Required Certifications, Licenses or RegistrationsCurrent valid CPR and First-Aid Certifications or ability to secure UIW provided certifications prior to camp commencement.Work HoursMust attend training sessions for this position, to include First Aid/CPR training where appropriate (Formal training session is July 10-11; informal training date tbd; certifications must be completed by July 11).Required to stay at the resident Summer Camp from July 12-25, 2026.
