The IT Project Manager is a strategic partner to product leadership, aligned to product development teams within Fidelity Charitable’s Donor Solutions Area. This role is responsible for managing team objectives and translating product vision into actionable outcomes across squads and product areas. It blends deep Scrum expertise with a passion for mentoring, coaching, and continuous improvement, guiding teams in applying agile values, principles, and practices (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc.) to accelerate value delivery.

In partnership with squad leaders, the IT Project Manager:

  • Maintains and refines product backlogs.
  • Facilitates agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives).
  • Removes impediments to progress.
  • Coordinates release management and scaling activities.
  • Manages cross-squad and cross-product interdependencies and risks.
  • Examines team performance through metrics to identify optimization opportunities.

By fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous learning, the IT Project Manager ensures effective and efficient delivery of high-impact solutions across the organization.

Specific Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Champion customer-centricity by integrating customer research and feedback into product strategy.
  • Promote product innovation and lead ideation sessions for new opportunities.
  • Understand product vision, target outcomes, and KPIs to support hypothesis-driven strategy development.

Planning

  • Lead prioritization sessions using fit-for-purpose techniques aligned with business strategy.
  • Align product roadmaps across initiatives.
  • Partner with delivery leadership to develop short- and long-term plans.
  • Manage stakeholder collaboration for scope, objectives, design, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate release planning using estimation and forecasting techniques.
  • Identify and manage dependencies and risks.
  • Organize capacity planning and maintain historic delivery data trends.
  • Provide inputs for business readiness activities.

Delivery

  • Collaborate regularly with design partners.
  • Lead backlog refinement and ensure prioritized backlog for effective delivery.
  • Coordinate releases and engage with client-facing leaders for product engagement.
  • Monitor work in progress and minimize context switching.
  • Facilitate trade-off discussions using empirical data.
  • Drive process improvements and remove impediments.
  • Manage progress against milestones and capacity, ensuring business value delivery.
  • Support engineering quality standards throughout the lifecycle.
  • Apply scaling practices for multi-team coordinated delivery.

Manage

  • Ensure data integrity in enterprise tools.
  • Maintain holistic backlog with tech debt considerations.
  • Enforce quality standards and incident/change/problem management processes.
  • Incorporate customer feedback into the development lifecycle.
  • Track and report KPIs to measure delivery effectiveness.
  • Analyze trends and implement improvement plans.
  • Optimize processes and advise on strategy updates based on product lifecycle.

Leadership

  • Model and promote Fidelity leadership principles.
  • Mentor and coach team members on delivery effectiveness and agile practices.
  • Facilitate group dynamics to resolve conflict and build trusted partnerships.

Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent; 5+ years of experience.
  • Jira/Jira Align experience.
  • Experience as a scrum team member.
  • Financial services experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proven ability to coach agile practices across diverse teams.
  • Effective facilitation and problem-solving skills.
  • Broad agile delivery competencies, including:
  • Acceptance criteria definition
  • Capacity and release planning
  • KPI development and performance measurement
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Systems thinking and experimentation
