Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this position include: occasional standing or walking with objects 10-25lbs; intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time with intermittent repetitive motions (such as typing); occasional exposure to loud noises; and occasional job related travel (<10% of the time).

Shift

Monday-Friday-8am – 5pm with occasional evening, weekend, and holidays per business needs.

Job Summary

UK HealthCare (UKHC) is seeking an experienced and certified IT Project Manager to serve in a senior-level role within the Project & Portfolio Management Office (PMO). This position is accountable for the efficient and effective delivery of professional IT project services in support of the UK HealthCare Enterprise and its strategic business objectives.

The IT Project Manager Senior will lead complex, enterprise-wide initiatives requiring frequent collaboration with senior UKHC leadership, clinical and operational stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. Operating within a highly matrixed environment, this role demands strong interpersonal, influencing, and leadership skills, along with the ability to guide large, multidisciplinary teams through a wide range of concurrent work assignments.

Key responsibilities include developing and managing detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans; ensuring adherence to established UKHC ITS PMO methodologies; and aligning project outcomes with enterprise strategy. The successful candidate will also mentor stakeholders and team members in project management principles and tools, support the development of business cases, and provide clear, concise project briefings, updates, and status reports suitable for senior leadership review.

This role is critical to advancing UK HealthCare’s mission as a comprehensive healthcare system encompassing medical, nursing, health sciences, public health, dental, and pharmacy patient care activities across the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, and multiple off-site locations.

This position is hybrid and may require travel in or around the Lexington area.

Preferred Education/Experience

PMP Certification, Bachelor’s degree, and 5-7 years’ experience in healthcare organizational experience preferred.
