Responsibilities

This DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN position will be located either in Howmet Research Center or in the Research Center satellite development area located within the Whitehall Core Facility, working on the New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Operating ceramic core presses and injection molding machines

  • Processing development ceramic cores as required to meet customer requirements, which includes running equipment and hand finishing

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving forming issues at the press
  • Aiding in implementing continuous improvement

  • Assisting in training and development of less experienced or less knowledgeable technicians and operators

  • Performing engineering trials under the guidance of an individual engineer or engineering team
  • Assuring product compliance to customer requirements
  • Processing of additive manufactured components used in the manufacture of ceramic cores

  • Working closely with engineering and other technicians, with a common goal of developing robust processes and preparing projects for future production implementation.

  • Helping to standardize and document procedures and best practice

  • Performing and documenting a variety of preventative maintenance and troubleshooting activities, as required.

  • Communicating with numerous groups and juggling priorities in fast paced environment.

  • Performing other work-related duties as necessary
  • Provide support to production operations as directed

  • Complying with all EHS rules required for the work environment.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Quality minded with exceptional attention to detail
  • Manual dexterity with ability to handle fragile components a must
  • Strong work ethic, driven to individual and team success
  • Self-starter with a sense of accountability to meeting daily departmental needs, requiring little supervision.
  • Flexibility and open-mindedness, in order to work in a non-standard/specialty work environment
  • Able to work in a team environment

  • Injection molding experience
  • Problem solving abilities

  • Comfortable using various basic windows based software, such as excel and word.
