Job Description

Harvard Law School’s Office of Career Services (OCS) is a vibrant and busy office that assists students and graduates with all aspects of career exploration, including judicial clerkships, which are one-year, post-law school positions working for a judge or court. The OCS Judicial Clerkship team seeks a full-time coordinator for administrative support with the judicial clerkship process and other OCS support as needed.

As a Judicial Clerkship Coordinator, you will:

  • Collect and organize clerkship hiring information of judges
  • Review existing resources and conduct outreach by telephone and email to judicial chambers
  • Manage detailed interviews and offer reports from clerkship applicants (both students and alums)
  • Contact applicants as needed to track and assist them through the application process
  • Generate reports of clerkship acceptances on quarterly basis or as needed
  • Work across multiple platforms to ensure accuracy of internal data and reports
  • Assist with analyzing data to identify and interpret trends
  • Respond to student and alumni inquiries about procedural aspects of the application process
  • Collaborate with the Office of Public Interest Advising to maintain resources about judges
  • Troubleshoot technical glitches in internal and external computer systems
  • Assist with other administrative tasks, as needed

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Three or more years of related experience. Education beyond high school may count towards experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

We are looking for people who are/have:

  • Experience in data management and curiosity about legal profession, a bonus
  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Polished and professional communication skills
  • Experience with Excel spreadsheet formulas, a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively on a team
  • Enthusiastic attitude

Additional Information

Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week, Full-time M-F. Occasional overtime is required during a peak period surrounding a national clerkship hiring plan date, generally three weeks in June, and during large student-employer events, generally several evenings in the fall and spring.

Work Format Details

This is a position that is based at a Harvard campus location with some remote work options available. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.

Salary Grade and Ranges
