Job Summary
The Senior Associate Director is responsible for oversight of all research activities and program areas focused on highway and worker safety, commercial vehicle operations, intelligent transportation systems, and transportation resiliency. They coordinate with research program managers in these areas to oversee funding strategies, budget planning, resource allocation, training, and project setup. Other duties are overseeing the development of a research project tracking system, tracking key performance metrics for projects, assisting with student and staff recruitment, and maintaining records related to staff compensation, titles, and promotions. The Senior Associate Director and Director collaborate to establish medium- to long-term research and business priorities and works with all of the Kentucky Transportation Center’s (KTC) program areas to develop and implement strategic roadmaps to expand their project portfolios. They build and sustain new cross-program and cross-organization partnerships to increase KTC’s research capabilities and strengthen the Center’s visibility. The Senior Associate Director serves as a project manager on high-profile projects and represents KTC at regional, national, and international conferences.
