A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.Purpose of PositionThe Division of Student Affairs at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) seeks an innovative and highly motivated leader to join the Office of Student Scholar Support as the Coordinator for Scholar Support. The coordinator's primary responsibility will be the day-to-day management of UTEP's Scholar programs. The Lead Coordinator is charged with supporting the planning, execution and development of all aspects of the Scholar Programs including recruitment, selection, program planning, and ongoing support of the UTEP Scholars. This is a multifaceted position requiring a wide range of professional strengths including professionalism, relationship building, mentorship, problem-solving, strong organizational and record keeping skills, and a dedication to ensuring the success of studentsEssential FunctionsResponsible for the onboarding and ongoing support for the UTEP Scholar cohorts including new student orientation, academic advising, on-campus housing assignments, and academic coaching to ensure the successful student transition and persistence to degree.Manages the planning and execution of Scholar events, including but not limited to scholar orientation, move-in events, annual banquet, and spring Scholar Reception. These events may be in-person, virtual, hybrid, or a combination.Identifies opportunities for Scholars both on and off campus to engage in high-impact experiences that align with students' academic and professional needs and aspirations (i.e. study abroad, leadership development, student organizations, on-campus employment, internships).Maintains accurate records for Scholars for the purpose of updating key stakeholders and required reporting including academic progress, financial aid awards, campus accolades, anticipated graduation dates, study abroad experiences, internships, on-campus employment.Mentors Scholars through regular one-on-one and group meetings and effectively connect Scholars with resources to support their academic, personal, and professional needs.Serves as staff advisor to the Texas Leadership Scholar Organization (TLSO) and holds developmental meetings regularly with the executive officer team.Attends TLSO general meetings, Scholar programs, and creates a culture of support amongst the UTEP Scholars.Supports all Scholar programs and events in the Student Scholar Support office as requested.Ability to work with a diverse student population.Handles sensitive information in a confidential and professional manner.Serves as the Student Scholar Support Liaison on various campus committees.Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.Some travel may be required.Possesses the ability to learn and use institutional software systems.Complies with all State and University policies.Other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
