Office of General Counsel - Lombard, Illinois (Hybrid)

The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) is seeking applicants for a full-time Legal Assistant in the IASB Office of General Counsel. This position reports to the Assistant Director of the Office of General Counsel and will be headquartered in the Association’s Lombard office.

Position Summary: The Legal Assistant position in the Office of General Counsel provides a wide range of administrative and office support activities for department, including high-level administrative support; creation and maintenance of organized, accurate written procedures and electronic and paper files relating to job tasks and areas of responsibility; and ensures all phone calls, emails, and other communications are handled in an efficient and courteous manner.

Education and/or Experience Requirements: A bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certification is preferred. Applicants should possess a high-level experience with Microsoft Word and web-based word processing applications and Microsoft Excel, experience assisting lawyers and/or lobbyists, and performing legal research is a plus. Strong internet research skills and customer service background is preferred.

The employee must have a valid Illinois drivers’ license and a vehicle; mileage and reasonable travel reimbursement are provided.

This position requires the employee to be able to be able to lift, move, and safely handle boxes and materials up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions of the position.

The position offers an annual salary of $40,000 – $50,000, with a generous benefits package that includes holidays, vacation and sick time, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, and retirement benefits. Position will be eligible for Hybrid work after completing 90 days of employment.
