Licensed Practical Nurse
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct and indirect patient care within their scope of practice under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The LPN conducts patient interviews, reviews charts/records, and provides patient education. The LPN is a vital member of the multidisciplinary team, continuously striving to elevate the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active and unrestricted LPN License required. Alaska LPN licensure must be obtained within one (1) year of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years' clinical experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to follow direction/delegation.
- Proven knowledge of growth and development principals across the life span while providing safe, reliable, and compassionate care.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EHR platforms, with attention to accuracy and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of unit specific protocols, workflows, equipment, and patient care standards.
- Administers prescribed medications safely.
- Displays cultural competence by respecting and adapting to the diverse backgrounds and needs of patients and families.
- Engages proactively in continuous improvement measures on the assigned unit.
- Takes responsibility for ongoing professional development needs, attending at least 80% of staff meetings annually, in-services, and conventions.
- Collects and maintains patient data and other statistical or registry information as required by BBAHC and/or State requirements.
- Initiates appropriate infection control measures without hesitation and as needed.
