As aLogistics Manager within the Division of Health Protection, Emergency Preparedness section at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

Supply Chain Management:

Oversee the entire supply chain, from sourcing and procurement to storage, distribution, and inventory management.

Inventory Control:

Maintain accurate inventory records, manage stock levels, and ensure timely replenishment of essential supplies, including vaccines, PPE, and other public health materials.

Logistics Operations:

Coordinate and manage the efficient movement of goods, including warehousing, transportation, and delivery, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and protocols.

Emergency Preparedness:

Play a crucial role in preparing for and responding to public health emergencies, ensuring that necessary supplies and resources are readily available and can be deployed quickly.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage budgets for logistics operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and prepare reports on logistics operations.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work collaboratively with other DPH staff, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient logistics operations.

Policy and Procedure Development:

Contribute to the development and implementation of logistics policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.

Training and Development:

Provide training and guidance to staff on logistics procedures and best practices.

Cold Chain Management:

Ensure proper storage and handling of temperature-sensitive items, such as vaccines, to maintain their efficacy.

Quality Assurance:

Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of logistics operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
or
Seven (7) years of related professional experience which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
or
Three (3) years of experience required at the lower level Mgr, Business Ops (GSM010) or position equivalent.

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular physical activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
