How will you make an impact in this role?

The Manager Assistant/Chief of Staff will provide executive office support to the Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management and Chief Risk Officer, GMNS and International and play a key role in coordinating and advancing the work of the organization. The Chief of Staff helps drive operational success and profitability by collaborating with teams across the enterprise and leading the overall rhythm of the business for ERM and CRO GMNS & International. The successful candidate should be a dynamic individual who is proactive in anticipating and adapting to the needs of the ERM team and is focused on accuracy, speed, flexibility and attention to detail. Critical to the success of this position are strong communication skills, a team-player attitude and the ability to develop positive working relationships with a wide range of colleagues both within and outside of American Express.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to planning, team management and strategic initiatives, in addition to strong management and partnership support to the Vice President and their leadership team
  • Drive colleague processes, including new-joiner onboarding, mid-year, year-end calibration and talent reviews, as appropriate
  • Manage colleague engagement strategy and communications & cadences including leadership team meetings, town halls, market visits, etc
  • Support business planning and operations (e.g. annual budget and investment planning, risk and finance reviews, etc.)
  • Support and/or lead ad-hoc requests and special projects as needed
  • Build relationships with key partners across the company, including EAs, GRC chiefs of staff, external consultants, and regulators

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or other related area
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) working in a fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environment, preferably with senior executives and C-suite offices
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, demonstrating good judgment in dealing with senior executive offices and key stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail while anticipating needs of stakeholders and responsive to requests in a timely, efficient manner
  • Excellent communication (oral, written, listening) skills, a positive attitude and solution-oriented demeanor
  • Strong sense of integrity with ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal guidance and to proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Be onsite 3 days a week and when there are Board or committee meetings, subject to change as needs evolve

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in financial services and/or risk management
  • Natural curiosity to lean in even when objectives are ambiguous

Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually + bonus + benefits
