Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Auto Loan Credit Manager to lead our credit team and oversee the evaluation and approval process for auto loan applications. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing risk, and driving operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage and develop a team of credit analysts.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Analysis & Approval:

  • Review and analyze auto loan applications, credit reports, income verification, and collateral details.
  • Make credit decisions within assigned authority limits and escalate complex cases as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company lending regulations (e.g., Fair Lending, ECOA).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulatory changes.
  • Analyze trends and recommend process improvements.

People Management & Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of credit analysts and underwriting staff.
  • Assign workloads, set performance goals, and conduct regular evaluations.
  • Provide coaching and training to enhance team expertise and productivity.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in auto finance credit management or underwriting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role managing credit analysts.
  • Strong knowledge of credit scoring models, lending regulations, and risk assessment.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop teams effectively.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in loan origination systems and credit analysis tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities.
