Manager - Digital Product Management
Job Description
Amex Digital Labs’ mission is to build the future of payments and membership, creating new value that evolves with our customers' needs and drives deeper engagement and loyalty. We leverage emerging technologies to deliver innovations that enhance how customers pay, travel, dine, and experience the brand.
We are seeking a Product Manager to bring stablecoin and on-chain products and services to life within the crypto and blockchain space. You will shape the future of how American Express builds on chain by contributing to the strategic vision, defining winning strategies, and building new product concepts across stablecoin payments, and agentic payments. This role will require the ability to operate in a white space area with a deep understanding of stablecoins, the crypto landscape, and traditional payments systems. For example: you can explain, at a high level, a blockchain consensus mechanism, how stablecoin settlement works, and how a payment service provider operates.
We are looking for a strong communicator who can simplify complex topics and drive alignment across teams. You will collaborate extensively with the Digital Labs Business Development and Go-to-market teams as well as a broad range of internal stakeholders including Strategic Partnerships, Enterprise Strategy, Global Commercial Services, Merchant, Network, Treasury and Amex Ventures.
Responsibilities
Support the company’s stablecoin and on-chain product strategy by partnering with key teams to identify business needs, develop use cases, and translate opportunities into product requirements.
Balance customer, stakeholder, leadership, and partner needs to define product features, user stories, acceptance criteria, user experience, roadmap, and backlog.
Partner with engineers and solutions architects to evaluate technical solutions, assess trade-offs, define API specifications, and deliver stablecoin, on-chain, and platform capabilities.
Lead short-term pilots and longer-term strategic initiatives across stablecoin products, on-chain payments, agentic payments, and the broader crypto ecosystem.
Develop new product concepts for agentic payments, including on-chain stablecoin payment flows for AI agents and machine-to-machine commerce, x402/MPP-enabled payment experiences, merchant/API monetization, and controls for safe, scalable adoption.
Partner with Business Development, Amex Ventures, and other internal stakeholders to pilot new on-chain capabilities, pitch proofs of concept, and build scalable participation in the stablecoin and blockchain ecosystem.
Monitor stablecoin, on-chain payments, and crypto market developments to identify potential partners, inform roadmap updates, and provide clear recommendations.
Manage development and release timelines, navigate dependencies, clarify trade-offs, and drive alignment through clear communication, summaries, and follow-ups.
Qualifications
3+ years of on-chain product development, product management, or product strategy experience.
Experience working with stablecoins and public blockchain ecosystems, including hands-on use of crypto wallets, on-chain settlement, stablecoin infrastructure, x402, MPP, and related blockchain technologies.
Familiarity with financial-services controls, including KYC/AML, sanctions, data privacy, security, and risk management considerations for stablecoin and on-chain products.
Strong product judgment, deep customer empathy, enthusiasm for exceptional products and services, and ability to clearly articulate product functionality.
Strong project management skills, including organizing timelines, tracking milestones, managing risks and dependencies, adapting quickly, and keeping work moving in a fast-changing environment.
Excellent communication skills across distributed and global teams, with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners to drive collaboration and alignment.
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
