As part of the Global Merchant & Network Services group (GMNS) the Network & Acquirer Solutions (NAS) team is at the core of American Express, uniquely positioned to service every business unit and customer across the Enterprise. Each year, we power billions of transactions through our global payments network, serving our Issuing and Acquiring businesses in more than 170 countries worldwide. We are driving a strategic, multi-year transformation to modernize our Acquirer Solutions to build innovative products, services, and capabilities that will anticipate our merchant and acquiring partner needs.

Acquirer Solutions (AS) is investing in the capabilities that drive GMNS strategy and leapfrog the competition in becoming an acquirer of the future. This is a strategic priority for GMNS as it becomes increasingly important that we stay competitive with the rise of intermediaries, can quickly adapt to an ever-changing regulatory environment and are developing strong value-added services that deepen the relationships with our acquiring customers.

Based in New York, this role will report to the Director, Multi-Currency (MCCY) & Acquiring Payment Products. The successful candidate will focus on the MCCY product, which serves as the international eCommerce growth engine for GMNS. Primary functions will include product strategy, business development, risk mitigation, marketing support, financial analysis, and project management.

The ideal candidate will have a passion to drive international business opportunities, while thinking strategically about the future. This is a great opportunity for an individual with strategic initiatives experience, who can partner cross-functionally with colleagues from Client Management, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and other merchant teams to develop and execute a product roadmap to accelerate billed business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partnering closely with multiple global business partners to deliver a world-class cross-border and/or cross-currency eCommerce solution
  • Driving the transformation strategy to streamline the MCCY merchant onboarding and usage experience
  • Identifying merchant pain-points and understanding the competitive landscape to evolve MCCY product features and capabilities
  • Managing and continuously improving processes end-to-end through feedback, metrics, and benchmarking
  • Translating complex business processes into consumable steps for internal customer groups
  • Supporting GMNS initiatives critical to the success of the MCCY product

Required Skills:

  • High-level knowledge and experience of card network operations, merchant acquiring, and/or processing including familiarity of competitive practices
  • Exceptional project manager with the ability to build a project plan and manage it through a complex matrix of stakeholders to execution
  • Creative thinker willing to challenge the status quo and develop recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the ability to develop relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders, while appropriately influencing without direct authority
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple strategic priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Passionate focus on the customer with a demonstrated desire to understand and solve for customer needs and pain points
  • Experience in product management, leading cross-functional, global projects involving tech development is a plus
  • 4-year college degree required

Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually + bonus + benefits
