Job Summary
The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and directing the daily operations of the Environmental Services (EVS) department. This role ensures a safe, clean, and sanitary hospital environment by developing and implementing departmental policies, monitoring cleaning practices, coordinating with infection prevention, and managing staff. The Manager promotes continuous improvement through innovative methods and ensures regulatory compliance and service excellence standards are upheld.
Essential Functions
- Oversees daily operations and supervises EVS staff performance.
- Monitors cleaning activities, including patient areas, public spaces, and procedural areas.
- Partners with Infection Control to ensure effective sanitation procedures.
- Conducts facility inspections and submits maintenance requests as needed.
- Manages supply inventory and orders to support operational efficiency.
- Coordinates with linen service vendors to ensure timely and adequate linen supply.
- Ensures proper handling of general and medical waste and seeks process improvements to reduce waste generation.
- Provides staff education on safety standards, infection prevention, and equipment usage.
- Promotes adherence to the organization’s compliance policies, including HIPAA and Joint Commission standards.
- Develops and implements departmental policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Conducts employee training, evaluations, and performance development planning.
- Participates in budget planning and cost control activities for the department.
- Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent, including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role (required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field (preferred)
Licenses/Certifications
- None required upon hire
Experience
- Five (5) or more years of environmental services experience (required)
- Five (5) or more years in a supervisory or management capacity (required)
