Position Description
Lindsay Corporation is hiring a Manufacturing Automation Engineer Intern to join our dynamic team for the summer of 2026. As a Manufacturing Automation Engineer Intern, you will have exposure in design, development, and implementation of automation solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our irrigation and infrastructure manufacturing systems.
Position Details
This is a full-time internship position based in Lindsay, NE (May-August 2026). Limited travel may be required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform system integration and testing to ensure the successful implementation of automation solutions, adhering to safety and quality standards
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and develop strategies to streamline processes, reduce manual intervention, and enhance system performance.
- Conduct thorough analysis of existing systems (process mapping & time studies), identify potential areas for improvement, and create detailed project plans to execute projects.
- Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to select appropriate automation components, hardware, and software to achieve project objectives.
- Troubleshoot and debug automation systems, addressing technical issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency
- Design and implement tools to enhance productivity and safety
- Responsible for ensuring accurate maintenance of Routing and Bill of Material files
- Develops procedures and provides training on new processes, tools and equipment, including developing and designing workplace layout and methods
- Collects data and analyzes trends to resolve customer problems and drive continuous improvement projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field of study.
- General knowledge of standard manufacturing processes
- Ability to use measuring tools: calipers, micrometers, tape measure and various electronic meters
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with control systems, sensors, actuators, and other automation components.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to adapt to new technologies and learn new skills as needed.
