Marketing and Communications Development VISTA

For one year, get paid to build sustainable solutions in a community, gain valuable hands on experience and prepare for your future. This full-time AmeriCorps service position offers a great opportunity to make an impact in the lives of others while building your own knowledge and skillset.

AmeriCorps VISTA members are Volunteers in Service to America who perform indirect service to build capacity and sustainable solutions.

What will you do?
The marketing and communications VISTA member will create, document, and implement a plan for creative, engaging, and timely communication to stakeholders including donors, volunteers, Habitat ReStore customers, Habitat for Humanity homeowners and the public to increase commitment to Habitat’s mission. Each plan will be well documented and evaluated to ensure sustainability beyond the year of service.

• Research, develop and document a marketing and communications plan, including social media, e-mail, print materials, fundraising support, website management, local radio, and television.
• Research, develop and implement systems to to accurately track and record marketing and communications plan-related data, ensuring sustainability
This position will focus on Brand management, Homeowner services and Virtual / digital systems, aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

• Activities and attractions: Gary, Indiana is located along the southern shore of Lake Michigan and is best known for its scenic beaches and protected dunes. The area is home to Indiana Dunes National Park and Indiana Dunes State Park, which offer hiking trails, freshwater beaches, wildlife viewing, and outdoor recreation. Locally, the region has a rich cultural and industrial history, with community festivals and historical sites throughout Northwest Indiana. Gary is also about 30 minutes from Chicago, providing easy access to world class museums, theaters, music venues, historical landmarks, and diverse cultural experiences.
• Unique projects: As we outline our outreach efforts over the next 18-24 months with a playbook of how and when we communicate with our market for deeper impact for our donors and future families, this position will create a foundation of how we move forward in the coming years. Ultimately, this position will assist us in developing policies and procedures for our future success.

When will you serve?
Start dates are flexible and based on this location’s availability. Talk to the hiring manager for this position about start dates during your interview process. The start date will be 4-6 weeks from receiving an offer.

• Annual living allowance range from $24,962 to $40,869 determined by the service location; most locations are on the lower end of this range.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must hold one of the following citizenship statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident Aliens or is a person residing in a state that have the following legal residency classifications: refugee, asylum or asylee, temporary protected status, or deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) status. Applicants must be at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
