The Dear Jack Foundation provides impactful programs benefiting adolescents and young adults (AYA) diagnosed with cancer and their families to improve their quality of life from treatment to survivorship. Our vision is to be a national leader in adolescent and young adult cancer programming by giving patients, survivors, and their caregivers a community and support rooted in mental and physical wellness-based tools and resources from diagnosis through survivorship.
We provide programs and resources to help young adults tell their stories, find community, and get the critical support they need. We are a passionate, mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to making sure no young adult faces cancer alone.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a creative, organized, and driven Marketing and Engagement Manager to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who loves building meaningful connections, telling powerful stories, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations to fuel our mission.
We’re especially looking for someone who can create compelling, engaging content—including video—to amplify our message and showcase the impact of our programs.
As Marketing and Engagement Manager, you’ll lead our communications strategy, strengthen our brand, support our fundraising goals, and manage essential operational tasks that help us serve the AYA cancer community.
Key Responsibilities
Brand, Marketing, and Communications
- Develop and execute our annual marketing and communication strategy and plan
- Create compelling content—including video, written, and graphic materials—to tell the stories of our participants and promote our mission
- Manage social media channels to increase engagement and grow followers
- Create and track ad campaigns, including strategic use of Google Ad Grant, print, and online ads
- Promote and support DJF events through high-quality marketing materials and video promotions
- Maintain and improve our email marketing database and campaigns
- Create and manage a communications calendar for email, social media, and blog content
- Monitor and improve engagement, open, and click-through rates
- Develop blog content featuring patient stories, program updates, and thought leadership
- Design event invitations, e-blasts, posters, brochures, and reports, ensuring brand consistency
- Manage updates and maintenance of the DJF website
- Write press releases and pitches, and coordinate media coverage
Fundraising and Operational Support
- Assist with planning and executing fundraising campaigns
- Collaborate with the DJF team and Board on new campaign initiatives
- Ensure donor stewardship tasks are completed on schedule
- Partner with the Executive Director to create marketing materials for major donors
- Maintain and maximize use of CRM and email databases for stakeholder engagement
- Generate donor and prospect reports as needed
- Support with collection of patient stories and board member information for reporting
- Oversee Dear Jack branded merchandise campaigns and vendor relationships
- Maintain merchandise and collateral materials in collaboration with Programs staff
- Support donation recording, acknowledgment processes, and financial reporting
- Support event planning, promotion, and logistics as needed
Program Support
- Write participant introductions and related social media and website content
- Promote DJF programs and services in collaboration with Programs staff
- Assist with mailing materials to participants
- Support LifeList wish procurement and Breathe Now retreats as needed
Who You Are
- Excellent written, visual, and video communication skills
- Experience creating engaging content across platforms, including social media, email, web, and video
- Proficiency in CRM systems and email marketing platforms
- Comfortable using design software and adhering to brand guidelines
- Organized, collaborative, and mission-driven
- Nonprofit experience is a plus but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 10% of time
- Computer work and extended periods of sitting
- Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
Compensation
Up to $60,000 annually, with final salary adjustments based on the cost of living in the candidate’s primary residence location.
