Position Summary (Primary Function)

The Marketing and Graphic Design Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of advertising, promotions, marketing strategies, research, and analysis designed to increase awareness and usage of Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. The individual will have a proven ability to independently manage multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and in a team environment and maintain flexibility to adapt to priorities based on changing business needs.

Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Oversees the development of brand and creative content to support a variety of activities and advertising tactics.
  • Performs media planning and manages all advertising buys (television, radio, social media, digital), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Management (SEM) for the Airport District.
  • Prepares routine reports for distribution to airport staff and business partners. Reports include effectiveness of advertising tactics, promotions and special events.
  • Prepares ROI reports at the conclusion of each advertising campaign and special event.
  • Provides strong creative and technical skills to translate requests into effective and visually appealing graphics for printed and electronic distribution including social media, internal media, communications broadcasts, tradeshows, presentations, event collateral, reports, training materials, web graphics, interactive multimedia/video, and other marketing, sales, strategy and communications materials.
  • Effectively applies customer and operational data to improve the advertising, promotions and branding for the District.
  • Manages contracts and monitors compliance for all airport sponsorships.
  • Coordinates airport-sponsored marketing activities, displays, promotions and contests, and festivals.
  • Serves as a contact for delivery, set-up, and tear down of displays for airport-sponsored events.
  • Manages and supports a collaborative working environment with external airport business partners including but not limited to airlines, chambers of commerce, and tourism bureaus.
  • Manages the airport’s promotional digital advertising program including production, placement and monitoring of performance.
  • Works with the Communications Department team to ensure consistency with the marketing message over all platforms – TV, print, radio, outdoor, digital, social media, website, and on-site displays.
  • Manages the airport’s photo and video library and collects video and photo images using airport equipment. Provide graphic design services for the airport’s advertising, communications and customer outreach efforts including the airport’s websites, terminal advertising program and supports requests by other Airport District departments for graphics assistance.
  • Produces and edits video content for use in commercials, terminal promotions, corporate communications, and social media.
  • Manages content on in-terminal video displays, televisions, and at sponsored facilities.
  • Fosters positive working relationships with tenants, vendors and business partners in support of Airport District goals.
  • Assists with the collection of terminal customer satisfaction surveys, as needed.
  • Assists with special projects, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or a related field, is preferred. Equivalent work experience is acceptable.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in marketing, communications, advertising, market research, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience in digital marketing, preferred.
  • Proven work experience in graphic design and layout.
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Management (SEM), preferred.
  • Experience with identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate.
  • Any combination of relevant education, experience, skills, and/or training may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High level proficiency in the use of a personal computer is necessary, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI, etc.) and web searches.
  • Knowledge of graphic design software including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom and Audition preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented and requires skills in prioritization, organization, communications, interpersonal relations, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strategic and tactical thinker.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including coworkers, supervisors, and the public. Strong verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills; capability for analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work independently, and also contribute in a team environment to achieve success for the organization.
  • Attentiveness to work procedure in order to reduce potential risk of injury in work areas.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain control and exhibit good public relations under all conditions.
  • Skilled in using social media to accomplish business goals.
  • Confident in working with the public, fellow employees, and business partners in pursuit of Airport District goals.
  • Comfortable with working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team environment.

Latitude/Independent Judgment/Accuracy

  • Diligence must be exercised when handling confidential information.
  • Reasonable care for equipment/process will prevent injury/damage.
  • Responsible for own work but must coordinate work with others (tenants, the public, mutual aid partners, colleagues etc,).
  • Position warrants considerable independence and initiative in decision making regarding customer service and community relations projects.

Working Conditions

  • Exposed to both normal office environment conditions as well as normal industrial environment conditions.
  • Typical office environment with frequent sitting, walking, standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, crouching, crawling and balancing.
  • This position is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including extreme hot and cold weather, noise, and physical hazards.
  • Light physical effort required, handling objects up to twenty (20) pounds occasionally and/or ten (10) pounds frequently.
  • This position may be required to work weekends and holidays, rotating shift assignments, and overtime duty, based on the needs of the department. Will be subject to recall outside of normal duty hours.
  • Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through devices such as a telephone.
  • Specific vision abilities include close up, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception as well as having visual acuity to analyze data and figures and operate a computer, with or without correction.
  • Mental and/or Visual Demand- mental and visual demands are high and vary with function performed. Consistent mental attention is needed to respond safely and efficiently.
  • Travel is required to locations on and off District premises. Limited overnight/out-of-town travel.
  • Must be able to drive to various locations on and off airport premises.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to complete and pass a background investigation, drug screening, and physical examination as per Federal, State, and GSP Airport District requirements.
