SUMMARY:
The Marketing & Library Relations Strategist, will execute the vision and strategy for the AMS ‘s wide-ranging portfolio of publishing products, including books, e-books, journals, MathSciNet, and electronic products. This position is also responsible for developing, writing and coordinating promotions of AMS products via all available venues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Execute targeted promotions to the library market with focus on eBook collections, Journals, and databases
- Manage relations with librarians directly, as a supporting member of the Physics-Astronomy-Mathematics Division of the Special Library Association, and through our relationships with Consortia
- Manage the Librarian Newsletter and other key communication channels
- Coordinate renewal/retention/cross-selling campaigns with Customer Service and agents
- Journal author/editor/reviewer relations – develop campaigns to promote our journal content
- Collaborate across departments. Participate in several collaborative groups that have representatives from many different departments in order to provide a cohesive marketing and promotion of AMS products
- Influence product or site design, ensuring that AMS products are represented within relevant channels and customer communities
- Engage social marketing techniques to drive usage and sales
- Plan, coordinate and implement promotion/marketing plans for current and future AMS products including assessment of those efforts
- Responsible for marketing and promotion of AMS presence at exhibits and conferences
- Assist with budgeting for marketing and promotional efforts
- Some professional travel required.
- Perform other or similar related duties as requested or assigned
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- The MLRS will work closely with internal staff at all levels in addition to communicating with external members of the marketing and publishing communities in order to identify marketing and promotional opportunities.

- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 2 years of experience in marketing and publishing required, experience marketing to libraries strongly preferred
- Experience with non-profit, academic/professional society publishing preferred
- Strong understanding of marketing and branding strategies and execution
- Eye for effective design aesthetic and strong writing skills
- Excellent project management skills, including work prioritization, planning, and task delegation
- Talented at handling competing priorities under pressure
