Reporting to the Mortgage Servicing Manager, the Mortgage Servicing Generalist performs a variety of functions within the Mortgage Servicing Department.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Respond to member inquiries with regard to their mortgages serviced by Harvard FCU. Provide the highest level of service.
  • Work in a team environment to perform mortgage servicing tasks from start to finish, including but not limited to:
  • Payoff quoting and processing
  • Preparing discharges
  • Payment processing and file maintenance
  • Obtaining flood insurance invoices from insurance agent and forwarding to escrow processing for payment
  • Preparing mortgage modifications and subordinations
  • E-records mortgages and discharges
  • Ensuring the timely payment and reconciliation of all real estate taxes
  • Running the annual escrow analysis with core provider
  • Ensuring the timely payment of PMI premiums and reconciling any differences between insurer’s invoice and core system data
  • Performing research regarding tax payment issues, and monitoring tax service provider’s reports for the addition and deletion of loans, resolves any issues discovered
  • Harvard FCU’s insurance tracking vendor
  • HMDA LAR data entry and validation review
  • Performing a review of all closed mortgages and home equity lines to ensure the quality and integrity of the loan file, and resolving any discrepancies to ensure accuracy of the data.
  • Respond to member inquiries related to home or auto insurance policies.
  • Scan and file mortgage documents as needed. Adhere to Harvard FCU’s loan retention policy which includes the purging of outdated documents.
  • Respond to auditors requests.
  • May be asked to assist other mortgage lending teams.

This position is designated as critical for the Harvard Federal Credit Union as it provides non-deferrable services that must be performed in the event of an emergency or weather-related closure.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications are the minimum threshold a candidate must meet in order to be considered for this role.

  • College degree and/or two plus years’ experience in a bank/credit union.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

The following qualifications are strongly preferred. If you meet some, but not all, you are still encouraged to apply; we value employees with a willingness to learn.

  • Knowledge of regulations that pertain to mortgage loan servicing.
  • Knowledge of FISRRV DNA or similar banking or credit union core system.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple functions within strict deadlines.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs
  • Must be able to work in the very diverse environment of Harvard University.

Additional Information

Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week

  • Required to be onsite a minimum 3 days per month, plus additional days based on required onsite training sessions.

Work Format Details

This is a position that is based at a Harvard campus location with some remote work options available. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
