Job Summary

The Community Administrative Assistant (CAA) supports the day-to-day operations of a residential community through a strong focus on administrative coordination, customer service, and risk management. Reporting to the building’s Resident Director and supervised through the Assistant Director for Risk Management and Front Desk Operations (within the Office of Residence Life), the CAA serves as a key part of the residential support system during daytime hours.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate housing and facility records, coordinating with Campus Housing and other university departments, overseeing front desk operations and payroll processes, managing mail and facility access systems, and supporting student outreach efforts. The role serves as a primary point of contact for residents, guests, and campus partners by providing friendly, reliable service, sharing campus resources, and fostering a community environment. Additionally, this position supports building safety and security through access management, incident reporting, emergency response procedures, and required risk management training, while engaging in ongoing professional development and regular supervision meetings to enhance performance and effectiveness.

The CAA is expected to model professional conduct, discretion, and ethical decision-making at all times. This includes maintaining confidentiality, handling sensitive information responsibly, and engaging with students in a respectful, developmentally appropriate manner. CAAs contribute to creating a community culture rooted in trust and care and upholding the mission and values of the Office of Residence Life.

Student Success will, from the time of early college outreach to graduation and beyond, support students in living a life of meaning and purpose. From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a community of learners in achieving success.
