The Role

The Fidelity Brokerage Operations application DBA position entails database administration tasks on small, medium & large size Oracle databases and data warehouses, being part of a large team of database professionals spread across United States and Fidelity’s overseas locations.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent desirable
  • Ability to perform applications database administration (Oracle) services including SQL code review, performance analysis, query tuning, database application build, physical data modeling, development support & Engineering
  • Experience in setting up, installing and managing multisite databases using Oracle Goldengate replication
  • Experience with cloud databases platforms on Linux environments
  • Ability to quickly diagnose the problem areas and come up with solutions and/or workarounds
  • Provide database support in all phases of SDLC and agile experience is preferred
  • Participate in 24X7 on call rotation schedule for various production support, database maintenance, housekeeping and installs
  • Work with enterprise teams for Systems Administrators, Cyber Security and Capacity Planning groups as and when situation demands
  • Strong time leadership skills with willingness and ability to prioritize multiple projects/initiatives at the same time
  • Self-motivated with strong team, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Establish database standards for operations, upgrades, migrations and onboarding new applications and/or clients
  • Advanced skills in SQL Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid control (OEM 12c), Linux shell scripting, and writing database monitoring jobs in PL/SQL
  • Strong Linux shell scripting experience preferred
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as maintaining a flexible attitude are a must
  • Ability to develop and drive database administration strategies and initiatives as per the needs of the team

The Team

Fidelity Brokerage Technology (FBT) enables business partners to win in their respective marketplaces by designing, building and maintaining the technology platforms and products of Fidelity Institutional, Personal Investing and Workplace Investing. FBT is part of the Fidelity Brokerage Operations organization and has over 3,000 associates located in Boston, Covington, Denver, Merrimack, New York, New Jersey, Smithfield, Raleigh-Durham, Westlake, as well as India and Ireland.

The FBT distributed DBA team provides application DBA support for all the distributed databases on which these applications run like Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, Postgres, DB2, Snowflake & Cassandra.

Most roles at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles.
