What Success Looks Like

This is a field-based, territory-driven role where you’ll spend most of your week meeting prospects, visiting job sites, and strengthening referral relationships. You’ll work closely with a Regional Sales Manager on deal strategy, but you own your pipeline end-to-end, from first outreach through signed agreement and handoff to operations.

  • Building a consistent pipeline of qualified commercial opportunities through outbound prospecting and in-person visits
  • Establishing at least 5–10 active referral relationships in priority verticals (e.g., builders, HVAC contractors, property managers)
  • Accurately managing deals and activity in Salesforce with clear next steps and forecast visibility
  • Progressing multiple deals into late-stage conversations with support from the RSM

Your First 30 Days

  • Learn the territory, target accounts, and top verticals by shadowing field visits and reviewing existing opportunities
  • Begin outreach to new prospects and schedule in-person meetings with at least 10–15 potential accounts
  • Get fully ramped on Salesforce to track pipeline, log activities, and manage deal stages
  • Accompany operations or senior sales team members on 2–3 commercial install scoping visits to understand the full customer lifecycle

What You’ll Do

New Business Development

  • Identify and pursue net new commercial accounts across agriculture, industrial, and trade ally segments
  • Build a steady pipeline through cold outreach, site visits, networking events, and referrals
  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand operational needs and position solutions accordingly

Referral Partnership Development

  • Build long-term relationships with key influencers such as builders, HVAC companies, and commercial real estate professionals
  • Maintain regular touchpoints to generate ongoing referral business—not one-off deals
  • Represent the company at local industry events and associations

Territory Ownership

  • Prioritize time across a multi-site territory to focus on the highest-value opportunities
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data, deal stages, and next steps in Salesforce
  • Share regular updates with your Regional Sales Manager on deal progress and forecasts

Deal Execution

  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes from first contact through close
  • Collaborate with the Regional Sales Manager on pricing and deal strategy when needed
  • Partner with operations to ensure smooth handoffs and successful installs

Must Have

  • 5+ years of outside or field sales experience closing new business
  • Proven track record of managing a pipeline and closing complex deals with multiple decision-makers
  • Experience prospecting and generating your own leads (not just working inbound)
  • Ability to manage a geographic territory independently and prioritize effectively
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) to track pipeline and forecast

Nice to Have

  • Experience selling into agriculture, industrial, construction, HVAC, or commercial real estate sectors
  • Background in energy services (e.g., propane, heating oil, fuel distribution)
  • Experience building referral partnerships that drive recurring business
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Marketing, or a related field
