
Paralegal / Legal Administrator
AutoNation is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Paralegal/Legal Administrator to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing transactional documentation, legal billing, and administrative support, with additional experience supporting transactions in commercial real estate, securities, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A). This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and a proactive approach to supporting attorneys and internal stakeholders.
This is a hybrid role based out of our Fort Lauderdale headquarters.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Support real estate and M&A transactions, including assistance with preparing ancillary documents, due diligence and coordination with closings.
2. Manage legal billing and invoicing processes, including tracking outside counsel spending, and assisting with budget reporting.
3. Maintain and organize legal records, contracts, and databases.
4. Coordinate with internal departments and external counsel on transactional and compliance matters.
5. Utilize Microsoft Office tools—especially Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and OneDrive—to support daily tasks.
6. Provide administrative support to attorneys, managing multiple tasks from start to finish.
7. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Organizational Relationships:
The Paralegal will work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including:
· In-House Counsel: Partner directly with attorneys across the Legal Department on transactional matters, commercial real estate, M&A, and corporate governance.
· Other Paralegals / Legal Staff: Collaborate with fellow paralegals and legal assistants to ensure efficient workflow, knowledge sharing, and consistent document management practices.
· Business Units & Internal Departments: Coordinate with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Human Resources, and Operations teams to support transactions, corporate filings, and other initiatives.
· External Counsel & Advisors: Liaise with outside counsel and consultants on specialized legal matters.
· Regulatory Agencies: Interact with state and federal agencies to facilitate filings, registrations, and compliance.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a corporate or commercial real estate paralegal or legal administrator (either in law firm or in-house legal department).
2. Experience supporting real estate transactions and/or M&A deals is strongly preferred.
3. Law firm case management and billing software experience required, as well as proficiency in the use of Microsoft and various other software applications.
4. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work collaboratively across teams.
6. Familiarity with corporate governance and SEC filings a plus
