As a part-time architecture professor, you will inspire students to become masters of the built environment who create spaces that shape everyday experiences. You will also teach students about the environmental, social, and sustainability issues that influence the design and construction of structures, among other topics. You will cultivate a professional environment that fosters the growth of knowledge, creativity, discipline, and character.

In this role, you will model professionalism, meet all grading and academic documentation requirements, and record attendance. You will assist with all academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts. You will also offer students extra help sessions, extended learning opportunities, and field trips beyond regular class hours. Occasionally, you may be asked to support departmental and university-wide initiatives by attending both in-person and virtual events, such as faculty councils, admission activities, accreditation support, curriculum development, and exhibitions, among other duties.

In this position, you may also be asked to provide professional services at times and locations determined by the university. As a professor, you must adhere to all duties and expectations outlined in the SCAD Faculty Handbook, including coursework preparation, syllabus design and approval, office hours, midterm grade reviews, and more. All professors must fulfill teaching assignments based on contact hours as specified in the Employment Agreement, as well maintain personal conduct aligned with the policies and philosophy of SCAD.  

Minimum qualifications:      

  • Terminal degree in architecture or a related discipline
  • Experience or knowledge of related industries

Preferred qualifications:      

  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level

Travel required:  

  •   Less than 10%
